![]() ![]() sans the controversial scene that almost got it permanently banned in Australia. Outlast 2 is due for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC starting April 26th. So the modifications that were made for the Australian version will also apply to the North American and European versions as well. ![]() School sections are usually scripted events with easy escapes, but in first run you don't know what will happen and atmosphere is scarier than 1. They stated that on April 26th every region would get the same version of the game. Outlast 2's village sections are chaotic and less enjoyable parts, but the number of people chasing you makes it at least comparable to Outlast chases where you are usually followed by 1-2 person. Red Barrels also confirmed to Australian gaming website Press-Start that there would only be one version of Outlast 2 released worldwide. We now know that it was rated after Red Barrels clarified that the implied sexual assault scene was not in the game. ![]() Later on, the board updated the classification rating for Outlast 2, showing that a "modified" version had been sent in and that it was applicable for the R18+ rating. The Classification Board and Red Barrels withheld making statements about why the ratings decision was reversed, but they mentioned that they would share the details on March 25th. ![]() The odd part about it was that on March 20th Leyonhjelm made the speech in front of parliament to the Prime Minister, and on March 21st the Australian Classification Board reversed their decision on Outlast 2. reported that after the Classification Board refused to rate Outlast 2, the Senator took the Board to task for their inconsistent ratings and constant censorship of material when it comes to video games Senator Leyonhjelm told the Australian Classification Board to "leave gamers alone". This conundrum actually managed to catch ire from New South Wales Senator, David Leyonhjelm. Quite naturally people questioned why they would outright refuse classification for the game instead of simply giving it a higher rating? Some people thought this was an odd move given that R18+ isn't even the highest rating in Australia. Outlast 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.However, for the full game the implied sexual assault was enough to get the ratings board to deny Outlast 2 classification in the region. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. "But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. "No conflict is ever black and white," Red Barrels describes on YouTube. A brief teaser trailer released today suggests Outlast 2 will continue the franchise's theme of haunting religious imagery. "The game will be a survival-horror experience and it will take place in the same universe as Outlast, but it will have different characters and a different setting," Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin outlined in October 2014. Details are scarce, but we know that this sequel will be a brand-new beast. Just two days before Halloween 2015, independent studio Red Barrels has unveiled Outlast 2, due next fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. Our review called it a "perfect nightmare" of gore, mental strain and tense sound design, and the Whistleblower DLC, which followed in 2014, was similarly heart-pounding. Outlast was one of the most horrifying games of 2013 - and perhaps of all time. ![]()
